# of Interpretations for Tales of a Scorched Earth: 1 E-mail Aaron with your own video interpretations.

The video begins with Billy against a grey background pointing his hand at the camera during the feedback intro. As soon as the band kick in the shot switches to a teenage boys bedroom. The boy is frantically packing some things into a bag and then rushes out of the from door. The time is late afternoon.

The next shot is in a fast food joint whre the boy is sitting around goofing off with his friends and generally being really obnoxious until they get thrown out by the manager who bears more than a passin resemblance to Jimmy. The time now is dusk.

Now the boy is sitting around in a really dirty apartment with all his friends getting high. Theres a girl in the middle of the room who looks really out of it; she collapses but no-one notices. The boy is also really out of it and gets up to leave and trips over the body of the girl but instead of showing anyconcern he laughs because he fell on his ass. "Tales of a Scorched Earth" is blasting out on the stereo. D'arcy is in the apartment next door banging on the walls to get them to shut up and James starts shouting at the boy as he leaves the apartment. The boy just laughs at him and staggers down the hall with two of his friends. It is now nightime.

They are all on the roof of the apartment block and they're all really messed up now. The camera is darting around almost as much as the boy and his friends. THe boy gets up on the ledge of the roof and flips off a guy and his family staring out of a window in an apartment opposite. The guy in the window turns out to be Billy who just keeps watchin while the boy flips him off and mouths the words 'fuck you'. These are his last words to anyone.

He flails his arms wildly and falls from the roof. We see him fall from Billy's perspective in the window oppostite. The boy hits the ground just as the song ends and for another few seconds we see Billy just turn away and go back to his family. Everything fades to black.
