The song starts off with the band playing in a typical garage setting. It's got that grundgy, dirty feel to the atmosphere. As the song goes on Billy stops playing but the rest of the band doesn't. The music goes on as he walks into the kitchen of the house. He is suddenly shrunk to the size of a fly. As he sings he sits down insidea thimble and relaxes. Only to see a rat (giant in perspective to Billy) looming over him. The rat gets closer to him and his about to crush him. Suddenly the scene changes to Billy waking up. It was all a dream.
Shawn McLain gish99@yahoo.com Note: This quote was taken off of Netphoria. This pretty much explains the whole idea behind the video. "Well, I had this really traumatic experience when I was fifteen. I got shrunk and I had to live in a thimble, and let me tell you that it was hard. The food was plentiful and all, but the attack of the rats got to be a bit much. It came out of the experiences of that time." -on inspiration for the song "Stumbleine" Setting: Hot summer day, birds chirping. Camera rolls over hills and grass. Past birds and powerlines. Under a car and up a dirtroad. Zooms up to a house and a bathroom window, with a little kid sitting up on the sink looking in a mirror wiggling his teeth. Next it shows a girl (Sally) locking her bedroom door and taking birth control pills. Camera then goes to a messy livingroom to show Billy playing guitar and singing. Little boy walks in and sits down on sofa. A different girl comes out of the kitchen wearing her fastfood work shirt and pin that says "Judy" on it. She walks past Billy without paying any attention to him. She walks outside and lights a cigarette and waits by the house. Back to Billy playing guitar. The little boy is playing video games not paying any attention to Billy. Judy jumps into a beatup old boat of a car. She drives past a drugstore and sees this kid with ripped jeans and a skateboard getting kicked out. He flips off the old fat guy who runs the place. Then they pass Judy's mother pushing a carrage and trying to control her little 6 year old brother. You can see on her face that she is frustrated and has been crying. Judy tosses the cigarette and stops for her mom. Back to Billy playing again in the house. Then they all come back home...but nobody notices Billy sitting there singing and playing... Mother picks up the phone and dials a number, then hangs up. She starts to cry. Fade to black. Chris Roy chriswroy@hotmail.com |
