Machina II - Friends and Enemies of Modern Music


The album was released in the US September 5th, 2000

Unlike Smashing Pumpkins 5 previous albums this one wasn't a big release, only 25 copies were printed. The album was released as a set of 5 vinyl records (two 12 inch records, and 3 10 inch records). They were printed on Billy's label Contantinople Records. The whole idea of making it free was due to the fact, Virgin Records had no interest in releasing it, so as a Fuck You, Billy gave it to all the fans for free (well 25 of them with the intent that they would spread it to the remaining fans). Many places have helped bootleg this album such as the Siva website, Sacred + Profane site, and the Smashing Pumpkins Internet Fan Club. Corgan also noted this album will not be pressed on cd and sold in stores.
