Smashing Pumpkins Current Rarities
Values - reference guide Now when
buying Record Awards, T-Shirts and Posters
use common sense. Smashing
Pumpkins Rarities Current Values 2000 Copyright Shawn Turner and
Aaron Grant.
* Prices reflect Sub Pop Singles Club Insert
still intact. If Sub Pop Singles Club Insert
is missing deduct 15% on the price.
** Not every CD release was put in here due
to the fact you can go to your local used CD
store and get a reality check of what your
"mint" Siamese Dream CD is worth.
This guide wanted to focus on the limited ,
promo, and obscure releases.
***Taken from the RIAA website. RIAA Awards
are so rare because they are usually given
directly to the band or figures in the music
industry. Gold Award is for sales of at least
500,000. Platinum is for sales of 1,000,000.
There are also Canadian Record Awards as
well.
NOTE-As you noticed Hut has both white label
promos and test pressings for most releases
in the UK. For reference a white label promo
is a promo containing simple white labels
(often blank) given to radio stations,
magazine editors/writers and a few record
dealers. A test press on the other hand, is a
manufacturer's sample record, pressed for
quality control purposes only used by the
pressing plant employees as a rule.
Regardless if you are buying a 7", LP,
CD, Record Award, Poster or even a T-Shirt
there is a grading system that can be
applied. The following grading system from
Goldmine, is used as a reference.
Basically an item in NM condition
looks as if you just got it home from
a record store and removed the
shrink-wrap.
The linear notes or corners may be
lightly turned up, etc. Basically
except for a couple of minor defects,
this would have otherwise been a NM
item.
Record Awards come in frames. Make sure the
edges are clean and not scuffed, the glass is
in good condition (not scratched or broken)
and make sure it is intact.
T-Shirts should be the size they are supposed
to be, not ripped, torn, have holes, stained,
faded, etc.
Posters should not have folds, creases, tack
holes, rips, tears, etc.
Hope this guide was helpful.
Special thanks to Dave Asselin and his online text
discography, Steve
Hemming
and his Visual Discography and Aaron Grant
