June 7, 2003 - Frankenstadion - Nuerburg, Germany
Concert review by Walter

The headliners of the evening were Iron Maiden. And Maiden fans seem to be a bunch of people who are deeply devoted to their favorite band but don't care much about the rest. (Maiden looked rather silly in my opinion with their "mega-mean-horror-stage" on the one side and white sports shoes and not much hair on the head on the other). So I stood between all those guys in Maiden shirts right up front. The Cardigans were the first major act, and really bored most of the crowd. And it wasn't much better with Zwan, unfortunately. The Maiden fans just stood or sat around and just a few people actually applauded Zwan. Still they played a good set, all the songs the played were also among the set they played in Berlin in February. Billy seemed not to happy to play in front of a crowd just waiting to see Maiden, and one had the feeling, that this was more of promotion gig to get a large audience than a fun concert for them. For the fans at least (there were a few) it would have been much better if they'd played on the Alternastage, which only takes a few thousand people rather than playing in front of a stadium.
Still they definetley rocked, great guitar solos.

There are some good pictures of Zwan at Rock Im Park:

They also aired the Zwan gig on Bavarian TV on the night they played. Also every Tuesday evening from now on do they show gigs from the festival (if you can get that).
