April 22, 2003 - Warfield Theater - San Francisco, CA, US Concert review by skY@e (skye at redlightmusic dot com) zwan simply rocks! i was lucky enough to catch soundcheck including "el sol", "ride a black swan" (which they didnt play at the show), "lyric", "riverview" and "heartsong" it was a pretty cool experience and i was so jazzed i missed the opening band again i heard a couple songs .. very mellow but i think they are a good opening band for zwan billy and co. took stage at 9 and opened with an a bass heavy version of "mary star of the sea" which was fckn awesome the rest of the set is as follows "endless summer" "for you love" - which was one of the highlights of my night.. one of the best djali zwan songs!!! it sounded so fckn good live .. words cannnot explain how good i felt "lyric" - can't front .. great great song "declarations of faith" "jesus/soul machine" - this is where things got really heavy and rocking .. naturally billy's heavy shredding got people moving and sent them into hyperspace "riverview" "baby lets rock" "heartsong" .. "i write the same words to say the same things" :) "broken heart" "honestly" "spilled milk" i dont know the name of one of the songs towards the end but it was some serious heavy sht that reminded me of some of the rocking jams on "infinite sadness" guitars filled the warfield and people were on their feet it was fckn rocking like nothing else billy was screaming and spitting and just letting us have it! everyone semmed like they were in good spirits and at the end billy thanked everyone and hung out over the stage and shaked hands with people on the floor i was able to go back stage after the show and meet the band and tell them how much i love them! (alot of the people at the aftershow were really cool ..great people and vibe for sure) definitley the best show i have ever been to expect alot more from zwan .. for this is only the beginning im excited about their acoustic album later in the year and i hope they tour with the djali zwan sometime in the near future good good stuff!! definitely some of the best music of my lifetime thank you all so much! x
