November 15, 2001 - Glass House - Pomona, CA, US Concert review by Richard (spaceboy3379 at aol dot com) my first time seeing zwan, and my second time seeing billy. i was pretty anxious to hear what the new music would sound like. the opening band entitled wagner were fairly adequate. a little indie mixed in with some good ol alternative rock. they played for a good 45 minutes and kept the crowd disinterested. when zwan came out, everyone began to scream and shout. they opened with the jellybellyesque "chrysanthemum" which the crowd really got a kick out of. from there i kind of forgot when each song really ended. they were very folk-ish. that is until "jesus" made its debut. it was very long and savvy. i remember the people next to me jumping as billy chanted "je-sus". when the set ended, everyone stayed in their places to expect an encore. thats when "and so i died of a broken heart" was played. the song finally ended, and me and my friends left enthralled by their performance. the setlist followed: -chrysanthemum -permanence -el sol -the empty sea -how things are -glorious -cast a stone -dont let me down(beatles) -jesus -the shining path -what they have done to me -sorrow -never give up -my life and times encore: -and so i died of a broken heart
